Why Gandhiji succeeded against British, even Mandela and Anna - TopicsExpress

Why Gandhiji succeeded against British, even Mandela and Anna Hazare to an extent, but many failed miserably with peaceful protest or satyagraha etc (eg: Tiananmen square student protest of China). It works, to protest against those who has conscience, or those who fear an upraise, due to conscience of people (Todays China) or those who are afraid of pressure from other countries(World against African Apartheid or Burmese Military Regime). First British had a democratic parliament and they were answerable there, second they feared what death of Gandhiji can cause to the country. What really would have worked is Gandhijis most potent weapon in his armor - Civil Disobedience, which was first tried in 1922 and finally done in large scale during Quit India movement 1942. Hope #APP guys learn from history to find ways of protesting.
