Why I carry a gun when I travel: In late July of 2010, a vacationing Oklahoma couple, both 61, were abducted from a roadside rest just inside the New Mexico line from Texas. They were ordered at gunpoint to drive their pickup truck and attached travel trailer to a remote location off from I-40. They were then herded into their trailer where both were shot to death. The abductors then drove the rig to an even more remote location on a small dirt road where the trailer was detached and torched with the owner’s bodies inside. The abductors, escapees from a Kingman, AZ prison, then used the truck as a “get away” vehicle. Would I have been able to stop them from doing the same to me? Maybe, maybe not. But I sure as hell would rather have a 9mm semi-auto with 15+1 rounds in it than a cell phone with which to try. abqjournal/218208/news/evidence-barred-in-mccluskey-trial.html
