Why I may consider contesting for Kiunga County Representative? The roles of county representatives have been expanded beyond the functions used to be performed by the former councilors. They ought to be honorable members who can work to legislate county laws on an intra and inter-governmental paradigm. They can also advise the county CEO on the viable needs of the wards not only based on territorial politics but specified socio-economic interests. Someone would question why should I not contest for governorship or parliamentary seat yet by 2017 al be in my second year of doctorate studies? My answer is simple, go back and read the constitution, it will inform you that county assemblies are not houses for idlers. It is for the same reason we seek for qualifications at the county executive committee. Instead of waiting to be a governor, I can be a Kiunga county representative when am 29 years old and offer a proper political direction to make it the best in Lamu County. Am not saying am the typical pedigree for the position or am already decided but I am in the conscience of evaluating my options for 2017.
