Why Im a happy fool for Christ: I used to get very sad and angry when people mocked christ and Christianity--and I dont mean a candy coated, powerless Christianity in name only (which Im also against)--but the radical, heart-transforming faith of the New Testament believers; now, when I see this, its not like I like it, but by Gods grace, I have to confess that a strange peace rules in my heart and a smile at times breaks through, when before, I couldnt wait to jump and check that person. Why? Because I can rest and have joy knowing that Jesus told His followers that as the world hated Him, it would hate and mock them also, for the hope and belief they clung to, which was not simply a blind belief or a spiritual theory, but an actual, physical, historical resurrected Christ. What got the early believers so filled with radical excitement and love that is alien to this world, such that they would sell all their possessions to care for the poor, and 11 of the 12 disciples met death with confidence, without anger or retaliation? It was seeing, touching, and being with the risen messiah, who came to die the death that they (we) deserve for sin, in order to live a humanly impossible life of love, power, and obedience to the Most High, by giving them (us) His nature and spirit: the spirit of God Himself; so they (we) are no longer slaves and victims of the flesh, the devil, and fallen mans fallen world. If anything, in peoples attempts to discredit the faith, in their mockery and unbelief, they are being used by God Himself to actually prove and bear witness to the truth of Jesus own promises. Thats the first thing. Checkmate: God. Second, is even the spiritual and religious people who mock, dont realize that they cannot understand the truth of the kingdom of God, because they have not yet received the Spirit of God, to see reality through the eyes of God. They, like the rest of the fallen world, see God through the blinded eyes and dimmed sight, and hardened heart, of fallen man and woman; thats why their arguments and mockery line up with those who are openly anti the things of God and Christ. They are still of the natural mind of natural Adam, not the second, perfect, spiritual Adam, the only one who can grant you access to the Father and allow you to escape His judgment and wrath. So, while the world continues to reject and mock the christ of the bible, and his mission and work, I will stand here and share in that mockery with joy; because the very thing that is so foolish to the world, has saved my life in a way that makes (merit-based) religion, conscious movements, gurus, and everything else you can name, look utterly impotent, powerless, and useless to give life to a dead heart. And anything but a new heart, my friends...now thats true foolishness, leading to death. I may be a fool...but Im a happy fool.
