MEC,MACRA,CELL SERVICE PROVIDERS,ESCOM AND CITIZENS ARE THE KEY ACTORS TOWARDS HAVING FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS IN MALAWI. My last important message until after elections. It will be appreciated if the following key actors towards the Malawi elections whether directly or indirectly conduct their services to their very best with greatest intergrity,maturity,transparent,accountable and trust worthy to the nation of Malawi. 1.Malawi Electoral Commission: As the main body regulating the elections and being an independent entity,MEC must make sure that political interference from the executive arm of government does not influence how the body should carry its operations as this may have a great impact on the outcomes of the elections. 2.ESCOM. As the main and only electricity supply body in the country,ESCOM must make sure that on elections or after elections day until the day MEC will announce the official results,the country should not experience power interruptions or blackouts as this may affect the electoral process and create ascenario where Malawians may think that such are deliberate moves to compromise the whole process,i would also argue the executive arm of government to allow the body execute its duties without any interferrence. 3.MACRA. As the only body regulating the communication and telecommunication mediums,it will do good the nation if none of the radio stations,televisions,print and electronic newspapers and service providers are shut down,their licences and rights revoked,siezed or scramble their channels to result in communication blackout as this may also raise an alarm of what is happening during the electoral process,i would also urgue the executive arm of government to allow this body execute its duties without any political interference. 4.CELL OR TELEPHONE SERVICE PROVIDERS. It will be good if MTL as the mother of network services and the only leading telecommunication provider intrusted to run the main channels to the tally center do their job with highest intergrity and maturity as any problem which may persist may affect the transmission of results across the country,this should also apply to airtel,TNm,access and others that provide network,data and voice services.Loss of communication or network by these agents during the electoral process will mean alot to observers.May the executive arm of government also not take part to control them. 5.THE CITIZENS. As the key actors in the electoral process,lets make sure that we are careful with what we say,do and conduct ourselves in this electoral process.Any misconduct by this actor may compromise the whole process,lets be responsible and take part in the exercise as stipulated in the republican constitution to have a free and fair elections and report to relevant officials any malpractice than taking the laws into our own hands.
