Why Is MNS Threatening SRK’s Chennai Express? Upcoming film Chennai Express is being threatened by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, as the political party’s film unit is upset over alleged reports that the film has demanded prime slots in single screen theatres across the state at the expense of some Marathi movies that are being screened in the respective week. On Wednesday, the MNS warned to disrupt the release of Chennai Express. Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (film division) chief Amey Khopkar told a leading lady that if UTV and Red Chillies (the producers of CE) attempt to dislodge any of the ongoing or forthcoming Marathi movies, they shall not tolerate it and deal with it in MNS style. In fact, he particularly was referring the newly released Marathi movie Duniyadari, running to full houses since July 19 in single screen cinemas in non-metro cities and small towns. The party had written to owners of all single screens and other cinemas seeking a commitment they would not take out Duniyadari from their screens to accommodate Chennai Express. He also warned that if the Chennai Express producers attempt to do that, they’ll not let the movie be exhibited in cinemas of Maharashtra state. Chennai Express stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film is slated to release on 9th August, 2013.
