Why MovementForSocial Justice -GH will Not Participate in the RedFriday. The Concerned Ghanaians For Responsible Governance (CGRG), the group that organized OccupyFlagStaffHouse is NOW calling on Ghanaians to wear red attire on Fridays to demand accountability and action from the government. We were involved in the first demonstration, where we hit the streets and petitioned the president about list of serious issues(shortage of fuel, corruption, power outage and so on ) facing this country that must be addressed. These same group is NOW calling on Ghanaians to wear red attires on every Friday to demonstrate about some specific issues facing the country. Even though, we think RedFriday is a great idea in symbolic way, it does not fundamentally change anything. The REDFRIDAY is now becoming TGIRF - Thank God Its RedFriday. Some sort of Happy Hour, Fashion and Gimmicks which breed complacency and aloofness. The Yen Fama Yame and Ebe Yeh Yie syndromes which are typical of Ghanaian behaviours...which amount to monument to NOTHINGNESS...NO ACTION, but TALK, WHINE AND COMPLAIN. The only way we can fundamentally change the status of this country and to force Mahama government to Listen and Act is to hit to the streets and make it ungovernable. The Administration is not feeling any pain and living a bubble because of our lack of urgency and complacency. The Tunisia, Egypt, Libyan and other revolutions didnt take place by people wearing red and sitting in their offices and homes drinking Alvaro, eating banku and fufu hoping change will come. They planned, strategized, organized, and mobilized thousands of people to the streets to change the government. This is what we must do NOW! We must reach out to the grass roots: students and the youth, teachers, nurses, taxi drivers, traders and people who are not on FB. With this, we conduct flash demo and take these government officials by surprise without alerting the police who are working with this CORRUPT and INEPT GOVERNMENT. The government will continue to do whatever it pleases because they know that Ghanaians are COWARDS. We will complain and complain and remain silent in our homes and churches and eventually leave everything up to God.
