Myeni could only watch as Pirates lost the MTN8 Final against Platinum Stars at Moses Mabhida Stadium yesterday, due to a groin injury, while Phungwayo could not last for the whole 90 minutes due to an Achilles tendon injury. The Bucs defender has already announced that he could be out of action for the whole season because of the injury. “The groin injury is very sensitive and we couldn’t take the risk yesterday,” Pirates communication manager Mickey Modisane confirms. “He is still to go for more tests to determine the length of his injury.” Many Pirates fans were also surprised when coach Roger de Sa pulled off Lehlohonolo Masalesa for Andile Jali, after had selected the former in his initial starting line-up. De Sa also omitted captain Lucky Lekgwathi from his squad for the Final, but Modisane was reluctant to comment. “I think Roger de Sa is only person capable of giving you comment on that,” Modisane says.
