Why Ogboru Cannot Be Governor – Bishop Emamezi The overt involvement of Chief great Ogboru in the 1990 coup that cracked the walls of Dodan Barracks while Ibrahim Badamusi Babangida as Head of State, has been identified as the major reason why Ogboru cannot be governor of Delta State, at least for now. This was disclosed by the bishop of Western Izon Diocese (Anglican Communion) the Rt. Rev. Edafe Emamezi in an exclusive interview shortly after a thanksgiving by Hon. Elijah Ologe at the St. Mathew’s Cathedral Church, Patani; Sunday, July 31st. The Bishop said the back ground of the LP candidate Chief Great Ogboru, that has a history of violence associated with the 1990 coup plotting is the bane of his political career. According to him, if the society appreciates values then individuals with values of honesty, faithfulness and peace lovers must be placed over and above men of violence and coup plotters. “What do you think of it, coup plotter, what value has such to give to the society?” he asked. The Bishop was asked to give a spiritual interpretation to the continuous defeat of Ogboru by Uduaghan at the polls and in court considering the fact that there has been large clamour for Ogboru to be the governor of Delta State and going by the fact that the voice of the people is the voice of God. Responding, the Rt. Rev. Emamezi said as a father in the Lord he needs to state his neutrality for politicians irrespective of where they come from, clear. “The only thing I want to say is that leadership is of God and the bible says that God is searching for people all over the world whose hearts are fully committed to him. “What brought Jonathan today to be the President is an unusual mark in the history of our country. There is something of God about it. And it is God who is actually the absolute one who chooses when it comes to that particular aspect. Men may manipulate there is no doubt about that, but I do believe from the bottom of my heart that people must fear God especially when they want to lead other people. I cannot really say, I am not a judge, but what we are looking at with faith is that Great Ogboru, yes, has been a very popular man but history is important in our life. The background is important, the background of the person who leads people is important. “Let him come fully to the Lord, I cannot interpret, I am not God but I think Ogboru needs God more than any of those contestants. He needs God; let him use Gods own way to be there not ethnicity or any other means because the arm of flesh will fail us. “What I can say and say it every where if I see Ogboru is that when he was flagging his campaign he supposed not to start with his ethnic leaders in Warri, it is a flaw if he really wants to lead people because every body cannot be Urhobo man.” Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is the God chosen for the state and no man can utter that.
