Why Politicize Chairman Bryants Death? H. Moses Carter, Sr./ 0886-404-980/ 0770-259-662 Email: mosescartersr@gmail I have read many articles on reasons leading to the death of the former Chairman of the National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL), Charles Gyude Bryant. In my reading of these reports, I was very surprised to have read from the Front Page Africa that deceased former Chairman Bryant died as a result of contract denied him by the National Port Authority. To me, this suggests that former Chairman Bryant died of poverty- a blatant lie. I stand to rebut such claims from these quarters. I am of the strongest opinion that former Chairman Bryant died of reasons beyond the NPA contract. Here are a few questions to ponder over: 1. I wonder what would have happened if the NPA had not held a bidding process? 2. Can we say that of all the years Chairman Bryant worked both in private and government circle, he didnt save some substantial amount to pay for medication abroad? 3. Doesnt Chairman Bryant have properties that could be sold to save his life while at the verge of his death? My good friends, with no disrespect to our beloved deceased former Chairman, I am of the conviction that as an honorable man, Chairman Bryant worked to earn a good financial status and pride for himself throughout his service. One thing I am sure is that he was not poor prior to his death though all may not have been well. It is very saddening to note that Liberia, as a tiny under-developed country remains as such based on the fact that we are known for politicizing everything. We politicize development, and social issues. The stories emerging out of the death of the former Chairman solidify the point made that no African especially Liberian dies for nothing. We are noted for ascribing causes to peoples death even if they died naturally. I will like to use this piece to urge our friends and colleagues to desist from using their various platforms to implicate the NPA in the death of former Chairman Bryant. In my mind, I believe that the NPA is on course with improvement of the countrys economic gateway. Such propaganda could further impede the smooth operation of the NPA due to misinformation in the general populace of the agency. I believe that former Chairman Bryant died of several factors. He may have died due to neglect from his friends, government and partners. The NPA case study as used by some propagandists is a non issue to ascribe to the death of our former Chairman who served this country to noble destiny. It is highly regrettable for anyone to say that former Chairman Bryant died of poverty. This is a disgrace to our former leader who was a business man for years and later served the state as head of the National Transitional Government. In conclusion, I urge all intellectual colleagues to redirect our energy on issues relative to the development of our tiny under-developed country instead of focusing more of their energies on issues that will further derail our development process. It is important for us to stop preaching hate messages against each other. Liberia is bigger than all of us and deserves our intellectual, moral, and financial support! A hint to a wise...
