Why??? Why do I pursue a seat in the council? Its simple, I believe, that I am the voice of the people and I know how it feels to be the little guy and feel that we dont have a voice! Ask yourself, How many times have you wanted or requested something and they say were broke! Can you help me or a family member? The current council will response with “ We have no money.” It is this type of thinking that keeps us in a state of having nothing or in debt... Actions speak louder than words. Reasons... They do not want to bring in anything that will cause them to do work for the people, this will interfere with my business, contracts, rental units or hidden agendas. This is sad, but true... What if WE, lobbied the provincial and federal governments to bring in programs that will employ our community members. That will generate revenue to relieve the Welfare system and help fix the housing problems, instead of spending the current budget allotment that Aboriginal affairs gives the community on the debt and continue to have nothing. Let us bring back the pride of being and Sipeknekatik Community and Band member. This is something to think about, We the people, of this community, believe and demands more or even better, We deserves more than past twenty councils have produce for us, which is not much... Together citizens of Sipeknekatik Band First Nations, We will make a difference and need to CHANGE our ways for OUR future generations... Thank you, Love, Hope and Optimism. Si
