With the recent rash of assalts and burgleries, some folks have been requesting more lighting. We all know lighting is good security. For this reason were having Streets Transportantion Lighting staff coming to our RED meeting on Tuesday 1/28 (5:30pm 1029 E Garfield). There are a number of areas that are sub-standard lighting relative to the Citys own parameters. The standard for our residential streets is one light every 250 feet. Since most properrty lots in Garfield are 50 wide that means we should have a street light basically every 5 properties. So take a close look around and see how far apart your lights are. For example: go to 13th & McKinley and dark intersection, head west and I believe its 7 properties before you encounter a street light. THAT is sub-standard and we NEED a light there to make that block safe. There are many more such examples. OR note where a streetlight is out for example the light accross from Garfield Elem School is ou t, someone needs to report that.Please look around your area, and attend the Revitalization committee meeting on Tuesday and report where you think we need more lights.
