Why are superintendents NOT aware that Amendment 3 will not stop excessive testing? Why are teachers and administrators clueless that the reason so many of us are against the CCSSI is because of the teacher evaluation piece, and the FACT that even if we VOTE NO ON 3 and we win…the standardized tests and teacher evaluations will still be tied to the tests as part of the CCSS INITIATIVE. Those things will not go away. THAT IS COMMON CORE! It has never been just a set of standards, it has always been an INITIATIVE. They need to read the NCLB (ESEA) Waiver signed by our commissioner of education that committed Missouri to align our teacher evaluations to the federally dictated model that ties teacher evals to the tests! Those will not go away with a simple no vote on Amendment 3. The things they speak of are not Amendment 3…that would be handy if that were true. They are fighting the CCSSI and just not calling it by name. Someday they will understand…someday….hopefully before it is too late.
