Why are we still calling it Austerity when national debt has - TopicsExpress

Why are we still calling it Austerity when national debt has increased more under our current government than it has under any government in history. Every spurious claim about reducing our debt has fallen vastly short. Leading economists have said time and time again that Austerity cannot fix a recession, and that spending stimulates the needed growth. And yet, millions are preparing to vote for another round of the same? I know it seems logical. Spend less, save more. The fact of the matter is, however, that economies do not behave the same way as your personal bank account. If youre not listening to anything and you have 20 minutes to spare, Im linking a video presented by a political economist from Brown university which explains this in-depth. The only economic truth that is a part of the official Tory line is that Labour did mismanage the economy. What they miss out, however, is that they have mismanaged it as well, and thrown in an ideological crusade in which they sell (or more often, give away) public services and structures that you, the taxpayer, have paid to build across your entire life along with the economy mismanagement package. If you are not a high-wage earner then voting for a party that will continue this economical mismanagement is simply an exercise in shedding your own blood for nothing. Im talking about both of the leading parties here - Theyre both terrible, one is just dramatically worse than the other. Politics isnt a game where you are presented with two shitty options and you have to choose, and engage in pack mentality with others who made the same choice. Minor parties are gaining ground, and wasting your vote will soon be a concept we leave behind. Even if a minor party vote was wasted, better to protest than support a party that has proven time and time again that they will hurt you. Im not going to advocate a specific party. I dont know your views. What Ill leave you with is this: A blind policy test. Take 5 minutes, fill it out, and see which party actually represents your views. Then vote for them. voteforpolicies.org.uk/
