Why cant we talk about this, This thing that is so central to my being, Why is it when our conversation starts to orbit this sun, Everything goes haywire, Like in the movie Gravity, Explosions, Panic, Accusation, Assumptions, Fear, Anger, Its just so weird, So unnerving to me, I experience something so, Loving, Hopeful, Authentic, Dynamic, Alive, Compelling, And beautiful, But if I put it into play, You freak out on me, You quote Dawkins and Darwin, And I fence back with Lewis and Muggeridge. But its just stupid Because its experiential, And how can I share my experience with you? This internal landscape of laughter and tears, The epiphanies and doubts, the mountains high and oceans low, The richness of the exchange, deeper even than lovers, The fights that have gotten us more intimate, The worship that expands my heart past its borders of capacity, The wisdom that he has whispered, The friendship that has dared to confront me, The Father that has forgiven me...blessed me...loves me... Oh yes I do remember, When its sounded stupid and naive, When my snarky sarcasm would rip into it all, When my science and philosophy mocked you, Its was just so simply stupid, sublime delusions and pathetic crap. Until the day, It rose up from the ashes of my bonfire, Till it emerged in my heart and mind, And suddenly there it was, Shining like the sun, Wrapping itself around me, Infusing me with joy, hope, and light Yes, yes...I know We cant talk about it It just makes everybody crazy But could you just.. Just listen to me... I think I just want to be heard, I just want my friends to at least hear it, Even if we never talk about it, Just listen to me for a few moments, Because its the most important thing in the world to me, It is my core, my DNA, the centrality of all I think, feel, and say (At least when Im at my best) And his name, Is Jesus.
