Why care about the Angels lease-contract at #theBigA? First and foremost, this is about the integrity of government officials in #Anaheim. For whatever reason, our leaders are lying about the talks with the #Angels. If they were proceeding honestly and in good faith, the new lease-contract would have been settled a year ago when it had the support of four votes as all one needs is three. I dont think it was a fair deal for the city, but at the moment, that is not the point. A deal must be made because, despite being locked-in by the current contract in the coming years, the stadium (both sides maintain) requires a serious multimillion dollar makeover. The problem: the land in question is owned by the city. See the inherent conflict? According to Mayor Tait, the Angels must pay the city rent for using said land AND pay for the improved stadium. They can not do this because they might as well build on land owned by the franchise. Like a renter with a leaky roof, our team is being forced-out of Anaheim by the landlord. The hard part: Why is everyone buying into Mayor Taits #BigLie?
