Why do giant telecom corporations want to prevent public Internet - TopicsExpress

Why do giant telecom corporations want to prevent public Internet (which is 50 times faster than the US average)? Because then they cant make giant profits. Its the same reason the pharmaceutical corps are against legalized cannabis. We have better solutions than the crap they are selling, and they know it - so they try to pay the government to keeps the profit scams running. That is THE DEFINITION of corporate fascism, and its the EXACT thing that the founders of our country opposed. The Boston Tea Party was about the King of England using tax policy to crush the colonists tea business in favor of the East India Company, the worlds first multinational corporation, and one in which the crown had a vested interest. Its corporate fascism and its bullshit. Chattanooga has the largest high-speed internet service in the US, offering customers access to speeds of 1 gigabit per second – about 50 times faster than the US average. The service, provided by municipally owned EPB, has sparked a tech boom in the city and attracted international attention. EPB is now petitioning the FCC to expand its territory. Comcast and other companies have previously sued unsuccessfully to stop EPB’s fibre optic roll out. Now ask yourself, how many services that we pay exorbitantly for could be provided much cheaper and better by public services? Healthcare, for one. Banking, for another. Theres more, I promise. This is the reality of privatization.
