Why do people keep saying, They could have stayed in Indonesia or one of the other 3-4 Countries they DIDNT seek asylum in before boating it to Australia? Dont they know Indonesia is not a signatory to the refugee convention...Australia is? Its been said a million times, Im starting to think these bigots prefer not to hear the truth, the lies suit their prejudices better. And this notion that 90 percent of people SEEK asylum and then do not assimilate is utter bullshit. Our culture is built on the cultures of asylum seekers, those coming now from Afghan, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Georgia etc are no different. Those coming here by boat now should be future Australians, the next bishop, footy player, entertainer, politician...They add diversity and strength to our communities and are certainly more welcome than the small, hate-filled, angry little racists, (like our own government, for example.)-----------------------------------
