Why do we as Christians support Israel? We do so because they are God’s chosen people as we clearly read in the Old Testament, the Jewish Tanakh. It started with Abraham who was considered righteous before God. Therefore God made the promise that out of Abraham would come many nations. The Jewish in lineage, and Christians and Jews as the spiritual sons of Abraham as we acknowledge Yeshua (Jesus) as our Lord and Savior. Many American Christians and a number of Christians abroad still support Israel. However, most seem to be lost at the dynamics of the Middle East. While others have no regard for her, don’t think it is important or in increasing number, yes amongst Christians, outright oppose Israel and look with disdain at Jews. Part of it is because of the unbiblical Replacement Theology that took hold in the early Roman Catholic Church and in various Protestant movements as well. This was the cause for anti-Semitism in Europe for almost as long as church history. Theodor Herzl - Father of Modern Zionism: The idea of a Jewish homeland started with Theodor Herzl, the father of modern Zionism. Herzl was born 1860 in Budapest and then moved later to Vienna where he went to University. There, he witnessed anti-Semitism. Herzl was further influenced by the dreadful Dreifuss affair where Albert Dreifuss, a captain in the French Army got falsely accused for treason. During that time, Russian pogroms against Jews were on the increase, causing waves of immigrants to come to America. Herzl believed that the only way anti-Semitism would come to an end is if the Jews would have their own homeland and cease to be a national anomaly. The first Zionist Congress was held in Basel Switzerland in August 29, 31, 1897. Six more convened from 1897 through 1902. They started to work the land which was left fallow by the Arabs. The drained the swamps in the Galilee, often catching the dreadful malaria and they irrigated the desert in the Negev. Too often they had to defend themselves from marauding Bedouins while often living in peace in the villages, side by side, with their Arab neighbors. The only socialist Utopia that actually worked unlike their counterparts in the future Soviet Union and Communist China. The socialist based farming communities became known as a Kibbutz. Palestine had, albeit the Roman occupation and hardships brought upon the Jews, always a Jewish presence in various towns of Israel, as well as Jerusalem even so the Romans would punish any Jew unto death if they would ever return again. Even religious learning continued to go on. When the early Jewish settlers arrived in the late 18th century from Russia and Eastern Europe, primarily an area which is known as Galicia, also called the Jewish Pale, they found Arab peasants who worked the land and paid enormous tributes to their landlords who lived primarily in Beirut. The landlords took no interest in the welfare of their peasants. Often, because of owing so much, some peasants migrated to other places while other peasants moved in. This was the only escape from the extortion by their feudal landlords. Land for Jewish development and cultivation was bought primarily by the Rothschild’s who supported the settler movement in the early 20th century. This began drastically to change the dynamic in the Middle East. It brought into action what has been viewed since the beginning of the United States of America and later in England as the right of the Jews to have their own homeland, preferably their ancestral one. Evidence to that is what is called the “American Balfour Declaration” which I call it that way because it was written by an individual around the time when America received many Jewish refugees, primarily from Russia. The word Zionism is nothing else but the believe in and the return to the Jewish ancestral home. There is a difference so between Zionism and religious Zionism. Zionism just deals with the land while religious Zionism holds the promises of God to the land given to his chosen people, the Jews. The Palestine Mandate was entrusted to Great Britain in July 1922 by the League of Nations, RECOGNIZING the historical connection of the Jewish people to Palestine. One of them was the Arab’s disdain for the Jews turning Palestine into a fruitful Land. they wanted it for themselves after centuries of letting the land go foul. Also it was an anathema to Arab leaders that “their Jews” employed Arab peasants, gave them good wages and health care. Thus driving Arabs away working their land for the benefit of their landlords for a better life in Jewish communes. The Arab leaders tried to unite their subjects by creating the false image of the Jew, in what can be called the early beginnings of the “Palestinian Movement.” This resulted in a number of pogroms led by none other than Haj Amin al-Husseini. The biggest one of those was in 1929 which led to horrible deaths of at least 200 Jews in Hebron. Too often the British looked the other way and punished those who wanted to organize the defense of their own Jewish people. In 1936 under his leadership Arab Riots broke out against the British. In 1941 he fled to Germany to resist arrest by the British. There, together with Hitler, he recruited 20,000 Bosnian Muslims for the SS. He convinced Hitler to carry out the persecution of Jews to the Arab world. He became the commander of many Nazis who came to Cairo as well. There, together they trained Arabs and Egyptians in terrorist warfare. It can be said that Husseini was the founder of the Palestinian Movement. If not that, he definitely was very influential. Arabs never considered themselves Palestinians before Israeli Independence in 1948. They were southern Syrians before the post WW I borders were drawn up between the axis powers. Palestinian was a disdain able name for Jews. It would have been an offense as an Arab to be called Palestinian. Their defeat in the Six Day War in 1967 changed all that. The name Palestinian was used henceforth as a Propaganda tool to turn the world against Israel. Walid Shoebat, a former Muslim and terrorist who became a Christian and a fervent lover of Israel said himself that the next day after the Arabs lost the war, they were told at school that from now on they are Palestinians. shoebat Yasser Arafat, then leader of the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organisation) was under the mentorship of Stalin, Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh, and Romania’s Nicolae Ceaușescu. Learning the lessons from Vietnam and how public relations can help people to change sides, these mentors helped Arafat to revert the rightful image of the Arabs being the Goliath and Israel the David into Israel becoming the Goliath, occupier, land grabber, and the Arabs the David with millions living in refugee camps that have been refused ever since the defeat of the War of Independence in 1948, to return to their homes in Israel. Except Jordan, no other country offers citizenship, ownership of property, or jobs, forcing the “refugees” to live in their camps and being used as pawns in the PR war against Israel. By the way, Arafat’s early mentor was Haj Amin al-Husseini. In turn Arafat became Mahmud Abbas’s mentor - our “partner for peace.” San Remo Conference: In April of 1920, the San Remo Conference was held in San Remo, Italy. The goal was to determine the precise boundaries of the territories captured by the Allies. Namely, that of the Ottoman Empire. The conference was attended by Great Britain, France, Italy, and Japan- with the United States. At a previous meeting in February, 1920 it was decided that Palestine should be under the British Mandate in which the Balfour Declaration was incorporated for the purpose of a Jewish homeland. The war had two phases of which the first started as a Jihad against the Jews. After the Declaration of Independence on May 14, 1948, immediately, the next day on the 15th, it turned into an interstate war. Israel was attacked by five armies, from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt. All were fully equipped. Jordan in particular was trained by the British and a British officer was leading the attack.. The ratio of troops was 1 Israeli to 30 Arabs. Israel had nothing, Only old stent guns from the British and not enough. No tanks, no artillery, no air force. Even so the US and some other countries indicted the Arabs for doing so, the UN held back any support. Israel managed thanks to Checkoslovakia to get World War II material. Ironically the arms had the swastika emblazoned on it, the very symbol under which so much suffering was endured. The only airplanes that existed were old Piper airplanes with canvas skin on a wooden frame. A lot of ingenuity, bravery, and desperation for survival helped the Israelis to win the war. One of the few pre-emptive wars was in 1967. If Israel wouldn’t have reacted first, they would have been in dire straights. Based on intelligence they overheard dialogue between Jordan and Egypt that when Jordan will strike, Egypt will go along. Israel started the Six Day War by taking out almost all of Egypt’s air force in the early morning ours of June 5th, 1967. The two other ones that come to mind is the bombing of Iraq’s nuclear reactor and in 2007 that of Syria’s. Was it necessary? I hope that enough people will realize with ISIS being the new powerbroker in the Middle East, there would have been no holding back in order to get the nations to their knees or face complete and utter destruction. Again, concerning Israel’s legitimate right to a their homeland, there are two things to keep in mind. A) Mahmud Abas, whose mentor was Yasser Arafat who’s mentor in turn was Haj Amin al-Husseini, denies and never negated his statement, that the Holocaust truly never happened. Even so some claim a shift in his thinking. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese.
