Why doesnt Alex just say it straight: If Westminster is stark, - TopicsExpress

Why doesnt Alex just say it straight: If Westminster is stark, staring crazy enough to turn down a currency union after a YES vote, then we will just have to go with our own currency. That will present some initial difficulties but Slovakia went down that road only a few weeks after splitting with the Czechs and is now one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe. Defending a currency union when just about everyone - even SNP members - believes that Westminster IS that crazy just leaves us looking weak. And trying for light humour - the space invasion quote etc. - was a mistake. Alex would have done better to be his normal self and just hammer Darling. His spin doctor gave him bad advice - he just looked weak, old and very undynamic. Where was the argument about the Atlantic Shelf fields and the wealth they will bring? Where was the argument about our smaller deficit? Where was the argument about our strong exports sector? The Standard and Poors article? The Financial Times article? Why not capitalise on the announcement of further devolution of powers to the Island councils and say that a Scottish Constitution could further extend democracy? Im sure Im not the only one here that was shouting at the screen I could do better than that!
