Why is it good to invest in STEM? By invest I mean really, really put dollars behind something new and highly impactful? While the argument has been done many times over for the space program, a study has shown tremendous positive economic impact by studying something very small. Specifically: the $14.5 billion investment in the Human Genome Project starting in 1987 under President Reagan has, according to a new study, generated nearly $1 trillion in positive economic impact - along with $59 billion in federal tax revenue.
