Why is it, that the first recourse that low information voters reach for when contending with African Americans who dare speak negatively in reference to President Obama and or the Democratic Party; is name calling? In oppose to debating the merits of the issue. I guess its easier to label me a Sell Out or an Uncle Tom rather than undertaking a vibrant, intellectual, discourse on the issues. Question, How can I be a Sell Out if I never bought in? And where is it written that in order to qualify as a black man, I have to walk in lock step with every other black person out there? Its as if, you are not allowed to be black and a free thinker at the same time...one or the other but certainly not both...not at the same time. Sounds like Nanny State politics with a design to capitalize on racial mistrust and keep African Americans shackle down on Uncle Sams plantation. And dont you dare try to escape; i.e. dont you even think about thinking...for yourself. Well do all that for you. We got that part taken care of. Feels like internal racism, to me. Furthermore, many who use the phrase Uncle Tom in juxtaposition with a negative connotation, are probably unaware that Uncle Tom was initially used to humanize the suffering of slavery for white audiences by portraying Tom as a Christlike figure who is ultimately martyred, beaten to death by a cruel master because Tom refused to betray the whereabouts of two women who escaped from slavery. As for me, I have never considered what another person thought of me or said about me to be my station in life. That part was already established by God before I got here. So, you see it matters very little what others call me. Rather, what truly holds credence in my eyes is what God calls me and how he sees me. And whether or not I am honoring the call He has preordained me to walk in. I know, Im strange that way. Lawd, this probably wont make Ebony, Jet, or BET.
