Why is the White House acting like the VA scandal is a real scandal, as opposed to all the other ones? Im serious here... BHO has personally SAID that his side wants single payer... that they want the government to run both the bureaucracy and the provision of services themselves... that they dont want to waste young peoples money on extending a sick persons life when it would be more cost-effective (to a central planners eyes) to just give him or her a pill to help them handle the pain and accept the inevitable... that we shouldnt complain about the occasional wait for care because after all, its a big country and society can only bear so much of a burden... and frankly (to a planners eyes), if youre not working or voting, you ARE just a burden... All this IS the BHO case for Obamacare. Virtually everything that weve learned about the VA Hospital network is the sort of thing that BHO loudly favors in theory. Maybe not in the same words, but... In debates through the 2009 to 2010 sale of obamacare, he and his cronies advocated these very positions, in theory. And literally half the country ate it up, and thought it must be a good idea. Now were seeing the horrible truth of this THEORY put into practice. Were not shocked to learn that the government owns these awful hospitals, or that the red tape is literally killing people, or that errors and neglect are causing misery, or that the waiting time is having the same effect as death panels even if they dont bear that official name. Were not shocked at any of it. This horror is the natural result of turning over such a program to government and expecting it to do it better than the private sector. It Cannot! Whats shocking to me is that the administration isnt saying Yes, thats what we support. Its good for you. I told you this was the right approach for the country, and Im doing my best to replicate it across all sectors. I want EVERY American to get the exact same care that the VA Hospitals provide. What isnt BHO saying that? Its the only position that would be logically consistent with his obamacare sales pitch. Or is it just that what sounds good in theory to gullible fools doesnt sell nearly as well when you see it in practice??? John F. Di Leo
