Why is the unemployment rates for African Americans are higher than any other ethnicity? Last month the U.S. Department of Labor reported that the unemployment rate for African Americans is currently 13.8% almost double the national rate. I know that our economy has been sluggish for the past five years, but even with economic gains one must wonder why African Americans are being locked out of jobs at a shocking rate. I contend that African Americans unemployment rate is high and even getting higher because African Americans DO NOT own their own businesses and DO NOT support the one’s they have, they continue to give back 99% of their income back to the dominate society. Unless African Americans reverse this trend they will forever remain a permanent underclass.
