Why it pays to pray: Even for little things. Well, for almost three days I have been in a panic. I could not find a container that had my important ID cards and other necessary cards and some cash in it. I looked in all the typical places that I usually put it. Not there. I looked everywhere else in my apartment. No sign of it. I thought maybe it fell in the trash basket beside my desk, but that had been emptied. So, I looked in the larger trash container, but that had been emptied also. I thought, maybe it was tossed out with the trash from Friday, so I went out to the dumpster, prepared with a ladder and gloves to start tossing some trash bags and look for my large black trash bag...with the red handles. But the dumpster had been emptied, also. Now I was angry, frustrated, and…I sat and cried. Then later today I set about with the arduous task of going through my files, and sorting through some things that had not been filed and putting them in order, so that I could get the necessary papers and phone numbers to replace my ID cards and cancel other cards. I gathered all that together and sat down by my phone to write down all that had to be done on a tablet that I keep by the phone. The table with the phone is always cluttered…a container of pens, tablet, folder with important phone numbers, a shoe box with medications, a bag of dog treats, my keys, and other “junk. Before starting to write I remembered and said the St. Anthony prayer to ask him to help me. It is a short, little prayer…Dear St. Anthony, please look around. Something is lost and must be found. Then I pulled out the tablet, and the box with my medications fell to the floor. Before I bent over to pick it up…there, underneath where it had been…was the container with all my cards!!!! Oh, tell me I wasn’t relieved and excited! And, don’t tell me it does not pay to pray! Best thing, however, besides finding all my cards, is that now all my files are in order, too. Thank you Dear St. Anthony! You saved me so much trouble. But, I should have asked for your help two days ago, LOL!
