Why not sing Gumaayyee in Afaan Oromo? Music has the power to - TopicsExpress

Why not sing Gumaayyee in Afaan Oromo? Music has the power to bring people together. The music of the Raayyaa and Azaboo people have been increasingly sand using Tigringa language. Nothing wrong with that. Apparently, the Tigray state is heavenly investing to develop a Tigray-wide identity (Tigray nationalism) and has claimed (reclaimed) territories in Gondar and Raayyaa. In Raayyaa and Azaboo, for the last two decades, the population have been told they all are Tigraway. In fact, the the evil Wayyaane II of today boosts itself of having the Wayyaane revolt I of the Raayyaa and Azaboo Oromos in 1920s and 1940s as their roots. So they ask who is more Tigraway than the Raayyaa and Azaboo? As we stand, the Raayyaa and Azaboo Oromos have lost their language. They mostly speak Tigringa and some Amharic. Well, I have read that there are spots of Afaan Oromo speakers in some districts. Nevertheless, they have kept their culture. They dress, dance, and do many customs that are of Oromo origin. What bothers me is not the fact that they have lost their language. It is rather the silence of Oromo artists to pay due attention for the music and other forms of arts of the Raayyaa and Azaboo Oromos. Why we dont have Gumaayyee songs in Afaan Oromo? There are experiences of our artists much better involvements in Wallo Oromo arts. The Wallo Oromos enjoy much better reflection of their arts in Oromiyaa. Why not this is the case for the Raayyaa and Azaboo Oromos? The Raayyaa and Azaboo Oromos have one connection with the rest of Oromos particularly in Oromiyaa- art. Through art, distant people of common origin and destiny communicate and learn each other. https://youtube/watch?v=HeEXl9y38j0&app=desktop
