Why the Native was allowed in and lured into such darkness is easy - TopicsExpress

Why the Native was allowed in and lured into such darkness is easy to figure. Just as all of the newly recruited Freemasons in the beginning they know not what they are entering into. They are enticed by the brotherhood of mysticism and told many lies. This was good for controlling and manipulation. Actually started in the 1600s with the first known Native Freemason officially entering the lodge as a member. Joy Porters research for her book, Native American Freemasonry gathered a History. Porter contends that Freemasonry offered special access to Native Americans through its performance of ritual, an assertion borne out by a wealth of contemporary manuscripts, newspapers, pamphlets, Masonic sermons, orations, and lodge records and writings by Masonic historians and antiquarians gleaned from archives in New York, Philadelphia, Oklahoma, California, and London. Through these documents, she demonstrates that over time, Freemasonry became a significant avenue for the exchange, and perhaps even cocreation, of cultural forms by Indians and non-Indians.
