Why the clock speed changes, when height from earth changes..? To be precise, if the distance from earth increases clock speed decreases..!! Why..? Wanna know why…? Read on… Let us consider A & B were two persons at TOP and BOTTOM of a tower on Earth. As Earth rotates, A & B also rotates along with it. In the beginning, A feel B is at his bottom, B feels A at his Top. Consider after some time‘t’, A traveled a Distance “ D’ “ and B Traveled Distance “ D ”. Remember the D’ is differs & greater than D …! Why..? The person A is more away from center of earth than B is. Due to this, he travels more distance than B, in the same time ‘t’. Because of the same reason A travels with more speed than B. i.e. Velocity of A “ V’ “ is greater than Velocity of B “ V ”. Distance = velocity * time. D’ = v’t & D = vt D’ > D (we know) = > v’t > vt But B never realizes that A is moving faster than him, because form his frame of reference he was seeing A moving along with him. So he thinks, velocities of both of them were same. i.e. v’ = v. But this will violate the above result v’t > vt… and mathematically unacceptable. Don’t worry, here comes the tricky part..!! B may feel velocities same, But he feels their clock speeds were different…!! How much..? Exactly the amount which can balance the equation. So to balance the equation v’t > vt we will decrease v’ to v and increase the t to t’. So now the equation will be vt’ > vt. According to B , person A was feeling & Traveled More time… So he thinks Clock speed of A was slower than him. T’ = T / sqrt(1- (v^2/c^2)
