i remember my mother, i miss her a lot these days, one memory always come to mind , i was grade 2 at the then de la salle college at taft ave and we were living at bf homes almanza. i was in class and then suddenly appeared with my medicine anf then politely asked my class adviser if she could give me my medicine and she came to me and gave me my medicine and kissed me on the forehead and left. her father, my grandfather was a former kapitan del barrio of san gabriel here in malolos, was a very good, never finished his primary education but was well known here in malolos, my lola was a former municipal nurse here in malolos and was so for a long time.my lola once told me that she also functioned as a midwife and was most probably responsible for assisting in the birth of almost half of the population of malolos during her time, even up to now among the true old timers here in malolos they would remember lolo jo and lola auring and even my mom ching. their daughter. sometimes it is good to remember the past, to remind us how truly thankful we should be and how goodness planted so many years ago by those before is often returned to us often with interest, it is not only once or twice that i will ride public conveyances here in malolos and the drivers lives have been touched one way or the other would not accept my fare because of the respect that have for my lolo and lola.
