Why would we have serious news like say the West-gate attack mentioned in the same breath with a segment called ‘slim possible’? Why should such flimsy segments feature in the prime time news? Was Royal Media that desperate to keep Lillian Muli happy? And you wonder why during the West Gate attack our screens were frozen on a fire truck that wasn’t moving while all the international media houses were streaming pictures we didn’t even have? And since the Kubamba show started on Citizen every Sunday, did it mean that all stations must ape the same so that every Sunday morning we are doomed to watch some Dj and 2 co-anchors playing with gadgets and tabs? As a nation, between 1930hrs and 2100hrs, yaani we cant watch anything else other than Mexican soap operas? And why are we excited about tabs and twitter comments during prime time news? I watched the ‘Couples Show’ jana as hosted by Kalekye Mumo and I was impressed, fresh and creative! I listened to Maina Kageni, Cess Mutungi and Edward Kwach back when Kiss 100 was a radio station and that was a show to listen to! Chipukizi my toe nail! Thank God for dstv, zuku et al and movie libraries coz am currently repeating 24, Prison Break and Boston Legal, its helping to forget the crap that we are fed on telly!
