Wild Neighbours! Our ground manager Martin just had an interesting morning: I had an exciting morning on the reserve where I live this morning. The North west parks board released a female leopard at Mountain Sanctuary Park. The Magaliesburg mountains are ideal leopard habitat and the reserve was identified as being a good and safe leopard release site. This is the first of 2 leopards that are to be released here. This particular female was being kept illegally at an animal rehab/care centre in a town called Lichtenburg, about 2hrs away from us. She was confiscated and has been in a holding area for a few weeks. If you watch the clip in slow motion you will see that she has been fitted with a satellite collar. Her movements are going to be monitored 4 times a day to see where she goes.
