Wild Winds and the Woodland Canopy The storm in Cornwall last - TopicsExpress

Wild Winds and the Woodland Canopy The storm in Cornwall last night thundered through the woods at Tehidy; we were making plans for the coming year with some right beauties, including the legends that are Steve and Becky from Igloo Structures. We ate more delicious curry than any sane human ever would; we combined Prosecco with drinks that were never supposed to share a room let alone a glass; we yarned and deliberated and all the while the Tehidy woodland canopy rocked out to some wind turned up to 11. A lone Caribou sat nestled in the woods behind us, she’d been there all week standing strong footed stubbornly taking the force of the gritty Cornish weather. So with a thick head and minimal life force I wandered into the woods to meet with this dear old Caribou, pictured throughout this blog. We have become rather fond of particular members of the herd; these ‘Sand’ coloured ones are firm favourites. The pure ‘White’ Caribous, on the other hand, are like high maintenance boyfriends – look the part, tough and beautiful, really stand out in a crowd but crikey at 5am and after too many Gins in a muddy field dancing to Public Enemy they can look tired and grubby! Saying this, the white Caribous are brilliant in a permanent or long term situation that requires exceptional light and clean lines. Visit Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, you’ll see what I mean. As I walked the woodland floor was beautiful – a giddy mix of leaves in all colours, shapes and sizes. Still bright greens a sharp contrast to the raunchy reds and optimistic yellows, it was heavenly. We had lamented over, the evening last, the brutally short Cornish Autumn. How fortunate people are to have lengthy drawn out colour rich Autumns with no Atlantic weather fronts ravaging green filled yet-to-turn trees in a matter of hours. But how fortunate I felt to see this woodland psychedelia on a bleary eyed Saturday morning. The Caribou was sitting quietly and how pretty she was. Undisturbed, unshaken by the forces of nature. It made me smile and momentarily fill with pride. All I had to do now was take her down on my own, but with some practice even that is do-able with a blurry mind and furry eyes. igloostructures.co.uk tremenheere.co.uk
