Wild nights in the San Diego backcountry: herd of feral pigs - TopicsExpress

Wild nights in the San Diego backcountry: herd of feral pigs roaming through the land. Around midnight it sounded like a loud freight train coming through. Twenty or so pigs moving through the dry creek bed, stepping on dry oak leaves as they root out acorns, screaming and squealing, about 200 feet from my bedroom window. They came up to the house and wererummaging through our stuff. We saw foot prints from the front of the pasture all the way up to our front door! Drew went out with his shotgun but didnt shoot. Then we had a family of raccoons getting into trash, chicken feed, tearing up plants, trying to get to chickens. Drew shot one... I get to see it this morning. Poor thing. He also put a bullet is a 300 year old oak tree.. I guess the tree will recover. Hate killing wild life, but a little push back on our end has to happen or theyll eat us alive.
