Wild story I want to tell you guys, Ive been going to church, not for religious reasons. Basically, I was a Buddhist who is going to a Christian church. Yeah I know that sounds hypocritical, but it does let me understand want kind of people Christians are. And actually, theres a lot of nice people who would go out of the way to pick me up every Sunday and feed me for free. I even met some really fun people who I can tease around lol. It was all great until tonight. The preacher wanted me to go to a Labor Day service on a Sunday. I didnt mind going, but I asked them to let me ask my family about their plans. Then they confronted me and wanted a straight answer on whether Im going or not. The preacher said I dont need your familys permission to ask you to come. I want to know whether youre coming or not. I knew they werent going to let me ask my family first so I said NO, a big fat NO. Just like that, I was excommunicated, kicked out, banished, and exiled. I was called rebellious and wicked, as if I was going to hell. Rebellious, true; wicked, thats just going bit too far. They offered to take me home, but I refused even though it was a 2 hour walk back home. So I apologized to then and said goodbye. Then I walked proudly home as a sinner singing Frozen songs on the way lol. I sang out loud and in front of people Let it Go, which was absolutely perfect for the situation I was in. But BOY was downtown scary as hell at night, Im never doing that again. Whether Im a sinner or not, I chose my old normal life over religion in the end. Sure, I cried when I think about never being able to see them again. But Im fortunate enough to have Vanessa Lam Irene Chung Lam, my dad, my sisters boyfriend and all of my other family and friends to go back to. Im darn grateful and wouldnt have it any other way.
