Addressing a public rally at Khanyar here, he urged people to vote for the PDP candidate Muhammad Khurshid Aalam for eradication of corruption, upliftment of downtrodden class and welfare of the area. I had met the then prime Minister Manmohan Singh and presented before him the proposal for beautification of Srinagar city. He had agreed and also suggested that the monuments in Parishaspora should be renewed as Japan was much interested in the project and wanted to send tourists here, he said. However, to my surprise, some sections of media published photographs and news claiming that I had sought shifting of civil secretariat from Srinagar to Parihaspora, he said. He said that in case PDP forms next government in the state, the issue of unemployment would be dealt with on priority. We promise to withdraw all cases against youth involved in alleged stone pelting cases within first week after taking oath to the office (government). We have also planned to give Rs 5-10 crore to the groups of youth without any tax and interest upon it so that they could establish their own society (Industries), he added. He asked people to introspect and see where they had been before 30 years and where they are now. It is time to change. Vote for PDP for your own betterment, dignity and honour, he said.
