Wind Advisory in effect until 1am Thursday for all of central GA. Winds of 20-30mph with wind gusts up to 40mph likely this afternoon. This will create wind chills in the 30s for parts of central GA this afternoon. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect from 7pm tonight until 10am Thursday. A wind chill advisory means frigid temperatures and strong winds will create dangerously cold wind chills. Single digit wind chills are likely tomorrow morning across portions of central Georgia. With below-freezing temperatures expected for the next few mornings....here are some cold weather tips for you: -Turn off and drain all sprinkler or irrigation systems. -Its a good idea to open all cabinet doors under sinks exposing pipes to warmer room temperatures. -Turn on hot and cold faucets to let them drip slowly... moving water will keep pipes from freezing. -Close garage doors. Cover any vents under house or windows to basements. -Consider covering outside (any exposed) faucets with insulating foam covers. Remember: The more insulation you use, the better protected your pipes will be. -Move animals to sheltered areas. Bring pets inside. Make sure pets have plenty of food, water, and shelter. Farmers*- Haul extra feed and water to nearby feeding areas. Most animals die from dehydration in winter storms. -Meteorologist Olivia James 13wmaz/videos/weather/forecast/2015/01/07/21388857/
