Wind chills will remain at dangerous levels this morning and may - TopicsExpress

Wind chills will remain at dangerous levels this morning and may return again tonight with Arctic air settling over the Midwest today. Winds will stay breezy from the northwest today and will keep highs mainly below zero with wind chills staying 15 to 30 below most of the day. With the cold highs, lows tonight will once again drop to the negative double digits, although they will stall at the low point around Midnight and then start climbing. Southwest winds will pick up overnight tonight and become windy for Friday, so, while temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 20s with even a few 30s in the area, winds will keep it feeling cooler, just not to the dangerous levels of today. Areas of snow will track through, too as low pressure moves through the state. Amounts will be around an inch or less, but it will be blowing around on the strong southwest winds. By Saturday the winds switch back to the northwest, stay strong, and will bring cold air back into the state with highs in the teens. Another round of snow will track in on Saturday night and Sunday. Snowfall amounts, and highs for Sunday, will be determined by the track of the low. The farther north it goes, the less snow we will see and the warmer the temps. It looks like it may take the track to bring a good couple of inches of new snow to the state and the cooler temps. Either track will allow another Arctic high to track in for the beginning of next week dropping our temps back below zero for Monday and Tuesday.
