Wisdom and clarity. We were praying for it and so many of you were - TopicsExpress

Wisdom and clarity. We were praying for it and so many of you were right beside us praying as well. Yesterday we received the gift of both. It was physically and emotionally tiresome week as we were trying to discover what the episodes Lauren was having were exactly. After describing them to Dr Lee a few weeks ago, he suspected that there was still connection to the bad side of Laurens brain. After looking at a MRI, he did not have confidence of separation in one of the hemispheres. You can imagine how our hearts felt. Lauren had a MRI again yesterday which revealed exactly what we needed to know. This time it revealed a clear separation in the area that was questioned, and the left side of her brain is functioning perfectly. The EEG did not reveal any bad activity as well. Yes! Wahoo! Yay God! So, what is going on? There is that one area. Insular cortex to be exact that is still on the right side connected to the brain stem that her episodes could be coming from. I had to ask the obvious question of why was it again that you left that in there? :) It is filled with lots of blood vessels that they try to leave alone if they can. So, if these episodes worsen and show signs of epileptic activity, it has to be from this area and it will need to be removed with another surgery. BUT, right now he feels theres a 2-3% chance of that happening. Pretty great odds, huh? Although, our sweet girl somehow tends to be one of those kind of statistics. :) If its not that, then he is classifying her episodes as pseudo seizures. Her body had been seizing for so long that it feels like it should still be doing that. Confusing I know, yet it makes sense when you think about it. If this is whats happening, these should go away with time. Unsurprisingly, God came through once again by settling our minds and hearts with this news. We would much rather not have either scenario, but this just gives us another chance to trust, lean in, and lean on some of you on this journey. We appreciate all of you, your prayers, your hugs and how God placed you in our lives on this path of life. Please continue to keep Laurens recovery in your prayers. Including pics of L getting her leads off and her by her art wall. :)
