Wishing someone merry christmas is not saying I believe Jesus - TopicsExpress

Wishing someone merry christmas is not saying I believe Jesus (a.s.) to be the son of God astaghfirullah.Taking a casual holiday greeting for a full conversion to another faith only reflects the extremely widespread paranoia amongst muslims of today. Its hard to believe how petty muslims can get over such a tiny issue. This brings up another similar-yet-different issue: the slightly biased nature ofany scholars. No, Im NOT advocating a distrust of the ulema, nor am I calling them hypocrites, but what Im about to say may seem that way to some of you. The scholarly opinions that push for s clash of civilizations with the west are rooted in muslim scholarly works msde during the christian crusades in Palestine. Simply put, all of the extreme material suggesting we can never interact with christians snd such was made in the context of s period with high muslim-christian tensions. You cant necessarily apply this everywhere today. Similarly, islamic opinions on such petty issues can evolve and are not set in stone. In addition, you must use your minds and realixe that there unfortunately IS a scholarly bias at times in regards to certsin isdues. You would not ask a saudi cleric about whether monarchy is haram or not, would ypu? Be ause they eould all say, despite the evidence, thst it is somehow sortof okay *because if they didnt theyd get into serious trouble in KSA*. Just like that, we should be aware of how some scholars say or stretch certain things. Allahu alim, and may God guide us all. # rantover~A1
