With Hansel & Gretel fast approaching, we need your help - TopicsExpress

With Hansel & Gretel fast approaching, we need your help please Thank you for all of the responses to the appeal for help, we are working our way through the responses. In the meantime, here are the specific needs for Hansel & Gretel, mainly for Front of House duties but a couple of add ons too. With rehearsals starting on Monday, this is going to be an exciting few weeks ahead and, with your help, great fun too. URGENT - Saturday 30 November We have a stall at Lighting Up Brentwood which Liz Southgate has kindly agreed to oversee but we need people from Noon until 6pm to staff the stall. It will be all about selling Hansel & Gretel, Liz will be selling tickets, so we will be coming up with some ideas to get families over to talk to you! I will be putting the stall together this week but it will need setting up and taking down and, as you may know, I myself am busy on other duties. Can anyone come forward please? URGENT - Sunday 1 December Emma from Vivid Musical Theatre (the co-Producers) has signed up up to be able to hand out leaflets at the Billericay Christmas Market. If you can go along and help her, that would be wonderful - that is simply handing out leaflets, we have NO stall. Front of House for performances If you have the minimum of a night a month to give up, and like to see shows, our Front of House volunteers are our first point of contact for our visitors, and we are proud of the welcome they receive. They will collect pre-booked tickets from you, or else buy them for cash (if we have any left). You will always work with someone else, and will receive all the training you want. These are the dates I am still looking to fill, you will need to be here an hour before the show start time. Monday 9 December 9.45am Tuesday 10 December 9.45am Wednesday 11 December 9.45am Wednesday 11 December 1.30pm Thursday 12 December 9.45am Thursday 12 December 1.30pm Friday 13 December 9.45am Friday 13 December 1.30pm Saturday 14 December 2.00pm Saturday 14 December 6.00pm (Gala Night) Sunday 15 December 2.00pm (Special day for Rotary Club) Tuesday 17 December 9.45am Tuesday 17 December 1.30pm Wednesday 18 December 1.30pm (Special performance for disabled friends) Wednesday 18 December 6.00pm Thursday 19 December 9.45am Friday 20 December 1.30pm Friday 20 December 6.00pm Saturday 21 December 10.00am Saturday 21 December 2.00pm Monday 23 December 10.00am Monday 23 December 2.00pm Tuesday 24 December 10.00am Tuesday 24 December 2.00pm Friday 27 December 2.00pm Friday 27 December 6.00pm Saturday 28 December 2.00pm Saturday 28 December 6.00pm Sunday 29 December 2.00pm Sunday 29 December 6.00pm An hour to welcome the cast and company Christmas is a little different as we have a big show to put on - this year it is Hansel & Gretel - with rehearsals from mid-November and over 30 performances up until 29 December. It is a full time operation with visiting professional, full-time actors and a supporting crew to look after (including me in the office!) Some people like to offer an hour, and that would be great to make everyones first cup of tea, wash everything up etc when they arrive each day, that would go a long way. It will be straight forward, we will just point you at the kitchen and let you get on with it. This means that even if you are only free on one day, it will still be a huge help. Those dates and times will be: Monday 25 November 9.30am Thursday 28 November 9.30am Tuesday 3 December 10am Wednesday 4 December 9.30am Thursday 5 December 10am Friday 6 December 9.30am Monday 9 December 8am Tuesday 10 December 8am Wednesday 11 December 8am Thursday 12 December 8am Friday 13 December 8am Saturday 14 December Noon Sunday 15 December Noon Tuesday 17 December 8am Wednesday 18 December Noon Thursday 19 December 8am Friday 20 December Noon Friday 27 December Noon Saturday 28 December Noon Programme sellers / raffle organiser When the schools are in, we dont provide a full-on front of house as it is unfair to ask the kids to bring money on the school trip, but for our public performances we are as eager as any other establishment to maximise profits, which of course we spend on maintaining the Theatre to the very high standards we try to maintain. I can find programme selling and raffling quite hard work, but some people love it. If you are one of those and could do an hour or two at the start of some or most performances, that would be great. If you dont want to do an entire Front of House shift, but could take this on instead, that would be great. (NB we do NOT need programme sellers at 9.45am or 1.30pm performances, we do not sell to the schools) Posters Thanks to so many businesses supporting us, we have posters up all over Brentwood. But we have not reached Upminster, Ongar or Harold Wood. Can you help please? Cakes and treats Are you a keen baker? Then our hungry cast and crew will be happy to sample your cakes! On the official Opening night (14 December), we have been sponsored with some wine so something to soak it up would be wonderful, perhaps gingerbread themed? And on the last night, it is amazing how consoling a slab of gooey chocolate cake can be as we all say farewell.... Plus, of course, during rehearsals we need to keep sugar levels up at all times..... (can you see the theme of this yet? Basically, we want cakes!) One thing we hear time and time again is how well Brentwood Theatre looks after our actors at Christmas. Some turn down better paid jobs to come back here, and many a time we hear people say My friend said audition for them, they look after you so well. So anything you can do to help us will be very gratefully received.
