With SA Fashion Week beginning on Friday, I cant help but to look at the schedule and feel a sense of pride. 5 years ago, having a fashion community in San Antonio was something that was almost unheard of. Many of us then realized how much fashion talent we had here, and saw the need to create a venue to showcase these talents; thus, San Antonio Fashion Week was born. As we are approaching the 5 year anniversary of SA Fashion Week, and seeing how much it has grown, I am very proud of the fact that I was one of the busy bees that helped to establish the week. I also am very proud of the fact that I served as Director of the entire week 2 years ago. What I am most proud of, though, is the fact that its now being directed by students I had in my classroom, and the majority of the designers being showcased were once students within my dept. The past 5 years have been a lot of sleepness nights and countless hours worked, but when I see the growth of the week, and my graduates being successful in the industry, I know all the work has been worth it.
