With a drop in the winds and a warm feel to the water, conditions - TopicsExpress

With a drop in the winds and a warm feel to the water, conditions were good tonight for the Severn Bore! The river was a real magnet for would be Severn rider tonight. Around 17 guys were in out side the Old Passage Inn as the bore arrived around 10minutes late, only rideable in a small sections, very shallow with the bore surge driving over the sand flats. In front of the White Hart Inn a very respectable bore wave formed with a good clean 2ft shoulder, a great wave to ride over a good distance, with clean sections and enough power to keep going towards the Strand! By all reports Epney saw around 20 guys in the water, looking for a clean face to ride. Very shallow though which dissipates the bore face. Else where on the river there was good rides for the taking, and lovely glassy hipped sections which looked great, almost mirror finish to the water in the twighlight hours. A real sight to behold, even better for the surfer gliding along on a glassy wedge shaped bore wave! Nothing really to behold on the home stretch, Over to Maisemore, the depth of the river and the evident lack of power to the bore really taking its toll. The river kind of took on the look of a twisted mirror as the tide misshaped its glassy surface as the light began to fade, something for the handfull of spectators to mews over. Tomorrow morning brings a 9.4m tide, followed by the evengins 9.7m. With more water in the river and better weather conditions we should see a nice bore around Newhnam and Epney with hopefully some looking bores for all to see, its not been the most powerfull but still a good spectacle, a natural wonder!
