With all the recent media coverage over Mike Brown and ISIS, it is easy to think the world is a negative place, and focus all your worries and cares on how to protect yourself from the abusive authority or from the craziness outside your door step. While that may be an accurate description of those living in certain areas of the world, it’s not true for most of us. Go ahead and check it out for yourself. Step out your door and look around. What do you see? If you live in a large city, you might see some people shouting at each other and taxi cabs cutting each other off, but you probably also see people going about their day, minding their business and living harmoniously with each other. If you live in a remote region, you might not see anyone. You might just see nature all around you. If you do, you’re in a great position to see how wonderful nature interacts with itself. You probably see birds and insets flying around, most completely oblivious to each other. You might also see wonderful green grass and great strong trees growing - all completely doing their thing - growing, living, being. Instead of focusing on the things you have no control over, focus on the present moment and realize how truly wonderful your life is simply because you’re alive. Breathe in. Breathe out. And smile. :-) “All negativity is caused by an accumulation of psychological time and denial of the present. Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry - all forms of fear - are caused by too much future, and not enough presence. Guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, bitterness, and all forms of nonforgiveness are caused by too much past, and not enough presence.” - Eckhart Tolle “As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease. When you act out the present-moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love - even the most simple action.” - Eckhart Tolle
