With allegations of child abuse and cover-ups amongst political figures in the 1970s and 80s the Government was right to set up an inquiry. But why does the Government want to appoint establishment figures to head the inquiry? Firstly they choose Baroness Butler-Sloss - sister of Michael Havers who was Attorney General in the 1980s. Then when she stands down they choose Fiona Woolf, a friend and neighbour of Leon Brittan who was Home Secretary in the 80s; now she has had to stand down. Who will the Government choose next? My guess is that theyll buy a Ouija board and get Jimmy Savile to head the inquiry.
