With only a matter of hours to go until we make the biggest decision in this countrys recent history, I feel compelled to highlight a few of the issues that matter to myself and my family (and I totally appreciate that others may have other isuues to consider!) in order to explain the reason for my support of Yes Scotland. 1. Self governance! We will get the government the majority of Scots vote for 100% of the time..FACT. Too often are we dictated to, by a government we did not vote for as follows for example.. 76% of Scottish MPs voted against the further austerity cuts contained in George Osborne’s 2010 Finance Bill – but they went ahead nevertheless, with thousands of jobs lost 82% of Scottish MPs voted against the new higher VAT rate of 20% – but VAT went up along with the prices we pay in the shops 81% of Scottish MPs voted against the welfare cuts contained in the Welfare Benefits Up- rating bill – but a million Scottish families will see their incomes fall as MPs from the other parts of the UK voted a different way 91% of Scottish MPs voted against the bedroom tax – but we’ve had it imposed anyway, with around 100,000 families in Scotland directly affected 79% of Scottish MPs voted against new laws designed to prepare Royal Mail for privatisation – yet Royal Mail will be sold off in the coming year; a disaster for postal services in Scotland. Does that sound like democracy to you?? 2. Social justice. Scotlands eloctorate will DEMAND a fairer distribution of our wealth, ensuring the right needs are met in the right places, unlike now where the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. It is a disgrace that a nation as rich as ours needs foodbanks! Check out David Camerons father in law Sir Reginald Sheffield and see how much he rakes in from having dormant wind turbines on his 3000 acre Lincolnshire estate...£350,000 a year ( thats on TOP of the 50% profit he makes from the energy generated when they ARE turned on!! Scandalous!!!) 3. The NHS.. An essential part of ALL our lives (Im sure we have all relied on its staff and expertise at some point in our lives) Only in an Independant Scotland can the security and most importantly..public funding of the NHS be guaranteed. Under the current UK Barnet formula, Scotland will receive less funding, as a direct result of the current governments decision to do a deal with the USA, to allow part privitisation of NHS England ( Thats right NHS England..there has always been 4 parts to the NHS! Since the day of its inception in 1948! NHS Scotland has operated since that first day and will continue to operate well into the future, in the event of a Yes vote, working closely with NHS England, Wales and the HSCS of N.I.!! Fact!!) 4. Industry. Only when the shackles of Westminster beurocracy are shed, can Scottish Industry, truly expand and thrive. 20% Vat is stifling industry..FACT!! 5. The so called VOW!! Made by David Cameron, a millionaire, who couldnt care less if Scotland went Independent as his Conservative Party would only lose 1 seat in the house of commons!! Almost ensuring Tory rule in the rest of the uk for years to come!! Ed Milliband..the weakest Labour leader in modern times.. who had to be cooerced into signing the thing a few days ago as he did not want to be seen to be even more aligned with the tories, losing him even more support in the labour movement!! His party would lose over 40 seats at westminster...think about it?! and finally Nick Clegg!!! Seriously!!...a vow made by this man who has already BARE FACED LIED TO THE UK PEOPLE regarding his partys position on tuition fees, which he abandoned on a whim, so he could suckle at the teat of the Tories, in order to share power!!! I think not 6. A vote for NO is a vote for a Conservative/ UKIP coalition government in 2015...that is as inevitable as night follows day..as Labour are completely divided due to the referendum and will take YEARS to recover!! Conservatives and UKIP wish to pull out of the EU.. That is their stance (currently!), which would leave EVERY SCOTTISH FARMER scratching a living with NO EU subsidies, which they rely so heavily on!! The fishing industry would suffer greatly also!! Only the Yes campaign have stated they wish to enter into the EU and attempt to secure farmers /fishermen a better deal (Scotlands farmers currently receive the 3rd lowest subsidies in europe, ahead of only Estonia and Latvia!!! in one pillar of the Common Agriculture Policy and THE LOWEST in the other pillar!! partly due to the fact that that the UK government did not even bother attending the latest meetings to discuss revised subsidies!!! ) 7. Education. We have some of the finest Universities in the world and our primary and secondary schools are the envy of the UK!! Successive UK governments have brought teachers to the brink of industrial action, on numerous occassions, due to the costly and unnecessary changes they have implemented. Surely the Scottish parliament can do a better job, if left alone to do it!! Dont take my word for things..not the politicians, either!!...look online or in the library and seek out the truth..go to the source of FACTS and you will see like I have, that we CAN do it and more importantly, we SHOULD do it!! Dont vote through fear..and dont fear to vote!!!
