With our trusted leaders selling their souls as fast as they can to Cuadrilla and co, I wonder about the wisdom of this in light of their commitment to the Kyoto treaty. They cite concerns about future energy costs and freedom. Surely I am not being naive when I suggest investing much more of taxpayers cash in renewables. Thinking long term, I wonder how much it would cost to roll out Solar panels on every suitable roof in Britain. Yes it would be a massive undertaking, but the gains would be massive. Couple this with the predicted brown outs in the future. Surely this is a much better alternative. Or is the government in bed with the big energy providers and fear loss of support if they get on board too much with the green movement? When they talk about climate change they all to often point out that with the melting ice caps we will lose land to the oceans. James Lovelock states that this is small potatos compared with the real issue. He believes that the world as a whole will tip towards a hot climate unable to support most life as it exists now. The world will go on turning, without us! James Lovelock, Scientist and author of The reveng of Gaia, a final warning.
