With overwhelming majority US Congress.UU da light green to Obama to sanction Maduro the Chamber of representatives of the United States expressed on Tuesday its condemnation to the Government of Venezuela and its inexcusable repressive measures against demonstrators and opposition leaders. The Chamber passed a resolution out the forces of the President Nicolas Maduro by their repressive tactics during the demonstrations which affect the country, which suffers from one of its strongest years crisis. At least 18 people were killed and more than 260 injured since the protests began on February 4 in the South American country. The Congress deplored acts that constitute an affront to the entry into force of the law, inexcusable violence perpetrated against opposition leaders and protesters in Venezuela, and the growing efforts to politically use criminal charges to intimidate the political opposition in the country, says the resolution. Also urges other Governments and organizations in the region to express solidarity with the protesters and help open a dialogue that put an end to the Venezuelan crisis. The Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the House, Ed Royce, praised officials for approving a measure that supports the Venezuelans who yearn for a return to the entry into force of the law, democratic standards and respect for basic human rights. Royce described Maduro as the successor chosen finger by Hugo Chávez, the blamed Venezuela and great antagonist of Washington, whose death will occur one year this Wednesday. The House approved the measure by 393 votes to one, being the only dissident Republican Thomas Massie. A similar resolution is being considered in the Senate. The legislators also demanded to President Barack Obama that would impose sanctions against those responsible for the crackdown. Source: AFP
