With the increase in traffic flow, Forest Park is not safer after - TopicsExpress

With the increase in traffic flow, Forest Park is not safer after the Road Diet restriping. The project was pushed through without citizen or city council approval. A pet project that has outlasted the purpose it was intended for. Auto accidents still happen and pedestrians continue you to cross the street not using the crosswalks. I stopped last week at the posted crosswalk for one of the smarter citizens from the neighborhood. She used the crosswalk as intended. Whereas, yesterday some bright guy with a caddy behind his bike, tried to cross on block north of the famous Park Place intersection. On Tuesday PM, long after rush hour there was a 3 or 4 car accident. Last week, a truck was rear-ended parked at Robert and Forest Park. This section has become more dangerous because of increased speeding. Why not restripe this section and make the road SAFER. You guys miss the point, educated drivers are safer not roads. With Berkley Place Phase II still underway, this pet project has to be revisited. It was ill advised by everyone, but pushed through because it was under the $$$$ threshold for a vote. That unlawful policy also needs to be revisited by the AGs office. The final cost went over the threshold and they still continued long after the initial striping with City Workers regulating light timers and restriping Park Place because and other intersections because of traffic backups. And with the politicians using the Chisolm Parkway as a backup route. Wrong again, totalling different citizen usage for that route. Traffic is backed up as of this AM and it is placing citizens at risk before, along and after the two lane section. Has anyone noticed the increase in bike traffic to and from school and work on the bike lanes? Of course not! They use Park Hill along the zoo to reach the Trinity Trail and then go to Hulen or downtown. TPW and the two NHA are not the experts, nor do they pay for exclusive maintenance of Forest Park. The citizens pay for it. Equal rights for all, special privileges for none. Thomas Jefferson (look at your $20 bills, if you do not know who he is) It is time to revisit and restripe Forest Park back to four lanes with a better plan for turn lanes. The road IS NOT safer!
