With the lack of snow to report, I thought Id bring you up to speed on some of our winter construction projects. Also, Dean Kurth wanted to get his drone out since the weather is good! The two aerial shots are his. The ground shot was taken by me from the car. His are much better! :-) This is Keith Creek between 5th and 6th streets. The creek walls, which were put in as a Public Works project back in the 1930s to get people back to work and learn a skill have started to fail and the erosion has been effecting some properties along this area. They lasted a long time! This job was bid last fall specially for winter work in the creek, because of the low water levels. Notice the old rock walls versus the new concrete walls being put in! This is a $300,000 fix. Looks good! The Council has passed the 2015 CIP Budget and you will see $36 million worth of projects hitting the street this year alone! $124 million through 2019! This is what the 1% sales tax does for the city of Rockford! If you want to see all the scheduled work for this year, go on to the City of Rockford webpage and look under the CIP. Its all there! It gives me goosebumps! :-) With - City of Rockford Government
