With the lovely and very creative regalia that I have seen in the current generation of the Wesley Guild I think the time is ripe for the MYU to seriously look into patenting the logo and all the other logos that the MCSA claims to be their own, set up a controlled supply chain for these and have one-stop-shops through out the country where one can walk in and order anything that has to do with the MCSA. Such things as isipeliti, name badges, hymn book covers, departmental uniforms, (I cant understand that we still buy imithika from one shop in Grahamstown where the owner is not even one of our own. I hope someone will prove me wrong here), banners, branded items such as coffee mugs, stationary, blankets, etc. Ive even seen these kids in branded all stars. We need to start thinking towards a self sustaining church, instead of sitting back and complaining about people making money off our hymns. We have an opportunity to own the supply chain from manufacturing right through to consumption. We have people with the know-how within the church. Our leaders have proved time and again that they have access to decision making government officials. This weekends Queenstown District consultation was testimony to that. We have the market (us). Let us stop being just consumers and start being producers as well. I believe this needs to be done before someone from outside our circles sees us as a strong niche and capitalises on that. This needs to be done, not to commercialise the church, but to protect a brand that we have grown, valued and cherished over the years. If not by the church itself, then at least by an individual member or a group of members who will get a full support of the church and pledge a percentage of profits back to the church #SelfSustainableMCSA
